So this week, 90% of the reason why the episode was so good, is down to the ladies. Chloe has understandably been distracted and weighed down by the reveal that Dan wants to get a divorce, so naturally the episode leads towards a ladies night (involving Chloe, Maze, Linda, and Ella). What started off as a bet between Lucifer and Maze to get Chloe out and have some fun, slowly turns into a genuine girl power night. There’s getting drunk, trusting each other with secrets, and literally getting into a fight to defend and support each other.

There are some great lines that come out of those scenes, the best by far being Linda’s “or maybe she’s just a raging bitch” line. Seeing these women defend themselves and each other was a great experience, and a large part of this episode is based around them in some way, either individually, as a group, or in pairs. It was a lot of fun and this episode seems to have paved the way for more female/female relationships to blossom (platonic, but also maybe romantically!)

Of course every upside has its downside and it was upsetting to see Chloe’s reaction to finding out about Lucifer and Maze’s bet. Seeing her doubt herself and the friends she thought she’d made was interesting, and it says a lot about Chloe and how trusting she is. It’s nice that it all worked out in the end, and I can’t wait to see her moving in with Maze. However, I feel like this is only the beginning of some decent character development for all of our ladies.

Now of course, the guys didn’t just sit in a corner all episode, they did get some screen time too.

Amenadiel came very close to revealing his problems to Lucifer. He’s only gone so far as to say he can’t take their mother back to hell, he’s yet to inform his brother as to why. With another angel coming to Earth in the next episode and with all the action that’s sure to go down, I’m sure Amenadiel’s problems will be fully revealed sooner rather than later.

Looking at the promo it seems like Chloe’s car crash at the end of the episode isn’t going to leave her too banged up. We see her walking around and she looks physically okay, so hopefully nothing too bad happens. The show relies a lot on Chloe as a character and her relationship with Lucifer so I doubt they’ll ever kill her off (unless there’s a way to bring her back or the show is coming to an end) so I don’t fear that happening. Saying that, it’ll be interesting to see what they do do with it. How it will it go down? Who will Lucifer pick?

I definitely feel like bit by bit this season is building to something big, which hopefully pays off. I really think by the end of this season we’re either going to have to find out why Chloe makes Lucifer vulnerable, or Chloe is going to have to come to terms with the fact that Lucifer is really the Devil. If we get one or both of these things, we could probably hold out on finding out the true cause and/or treatment for Amenadiel’s loss of power and rotting wings.

I could possibly also stand waiting for the mother’s story line to get bigger. I definitely think we’ll see something more from her this season. At the end of the last season it seemed like she might be the next big bad of season 2, but that hasn’t been the case so far. I feel like they’re building up to it, and if we get some answers about Chloe (and Lucifer) then I can handle them maybe revealing the mother as a big bad during the last couple of episodes and using her “true” and powerful self to dominate season 3.

To be honest the ladies owned this episode and their scenes were definitely some of my favourites from this show! If you’ve seen this weeks Lucifer, what did you think? Let me know!

Here is the promo for episode 5 for those of you who might not have seen it:
